Its Da CookUp (formerly known as The Cookup Academy) was founded in 2015 by R. Chris in Orlando, FL. Originally established as a producer collective, the group provided a space for musicians, songwriters, and producers to connect and collaborate. Over time, as key members solidified their presence, the collective naturally evolved into Its Da CookUp—a powerhouse team of musicians, engineers, producers, and writers dedicated to pushing creative boundaries.
With a focus on innovation, Its Da CookUp explores new sounds, techniques, and recording processes from diverse perspectives. The collective features an all-star lineup: Founder R. Chris (@iamrchris), Key (@cpbkey), JC (@jcdamastermindxz), Rada (@radagotbeatz), Reign Tha Producer (@reigntheproducer), and JayJ (@jayjtheproducer). Their wide-ranging musical backgrounds allow them to tap into multiple genres, making Its Da CookUp a formidable force in the music industry.
R.CHRIS
Ryan R.Chris, Christian, started his journey into music at the early age of 7 teaching himself how to play his favorite songs on the piano. As his passion for music grew he moved on to the bass guitar and the gift of singing had been present since he could formulate words. His initial dream was to be an artist but after being introduced to the world of music production in high school, R.Chris sought to further is music career that way. He'd would first make beats for his friends for fun but after graduating, he knew that was what he wanted to do professionally. It wasn't until 2009 when he would begin to make his mark with landing a placement with Ace Hood. After that, he'd go on to produce for Plies, 2 Chainz, Gucci Mane, T-Pain, the late Bankroll Fresh, Raheem DeVaughn, the late Nipsey Hussle and more! Not satisfied or complacent with his growth, R.Chris looks to continue to make his mark in the music industry and make one that lasts.
JayJ Tha Producer
Jeremy James aka Jay-J the Producer is a professional musician and producer born in Miami, Florida. With a deep-rooted passion for music, his journey began at the age of six, playing drums in church for his parents—both talented singers and musicians. Growing up surrounded by music, he quickly developed his skills across multiple instruments, mastering the keyboards, organ, bass, guitar, and drums.
Jay-J’s talent and dedication have led him to work with some of the most respected artists in the industry, including Montell Jordan, Musiq Soulchild, Lalah Hathaway, Avery Wilson, J Moss, Q Parker, Sammie, and Lecrae, among many others. His exceptional production and musicianship have earned him two Dove Awards, with four nominations, as well as a prestigious NAACP Award nomination.
With a rich musical background and an ear for timeless sound, Jay-J continues to shape the industry, blending innovation with deep-rooted soul and musicianship.
REIGN THE PRODUCER
James "Reign" Winfrey musician and producer, born in Chicago but grew up in Orlando, Florida. I've been into Music Production since I was 15 and have been perfecting my craft since then. At 19 years old I had my first song on the radio called "Heal The City" with artist HiswWill and since then, I've made a Name for my self around Orlando and surrounding areas. I've made it to Billboard with Orlando artist Mook Boy. I intend to continue collaborating with artists and other producers in the name of making dope shit furthering the sound of Orlando. My end goal is to build my own studio to service the world with top tier audio Services.
CPBKEY aka “Key” has been a deep lover of all things music since birth! Born into a musical family he learned to hone his ear skills by always listening to what his parents and relatives had going on! Growing up in church really has had a huge affect on him for when it comes to creativity and spontaneity. Being so influenced by Soul, Hip-Hop and Gospel music continues to be a huge aid in his process when working on all other styles of music arrangement and music production. Whether that be Pop, R&B, Hip-Hop, Trap music or any project that may come down the pipeline! You can absolutely “feel” the real emotions in the music when Key adds his signature "sawse” to any collaboration, melody arrangement or simply a backing piano track! Some major musical influences on his sound and inspirations would be Stevie Wonder, Kanye West, Timbaland, Earth Wind And Fire, Quincey Jones, Sean “Love” Combs, Donny Hathaway and the famous Motown sound! Key’s musical aspirations far exceed just that of making radio hits! He’d like to make timeless music for the word to share and grow a love through a better understand for one another. Hopefully it’s already started to take place, and will continue on for as long as people need music in the world!

Born in the Bronx, NY, and shaped by stints in Atlanta and South-Central Los Angeles, Rada Got Beatzcreates a unique blend of East Coast, Southern, and West Coast sounds. His diverse background influences his production style, which bridges gritty street anthems with polished hits. Having collaborated with artists like Loon, Black Frost, Mailman, G Life, Te Money, Partyat4, 7am, Usher, and Nick Carter, Rada’s versatility has earned him a Grammy nomination, solidifying his place as a standout producer in the industry.
JC DA MASTERMIND
Meet JC, a passionate music creator who first discovered his love for beats in middle school. Inspired by his older brother, R.Chris, JC sneaked onto his brother's computer to experiment with music software. Falling in love with the art of beat-making, JC and his brother began creating music together, further solidifying the love he has for music. JC produced for a few local artists and continued to perfect his skills. After taking a break to focus on personal growth and family, he's back and determined to leave his mark on the music industry Stay tuned to watch how he COOKUP fresh sounds!
